Hello everyone, back again in the land of Austen. Really, really can't wait for Rude Awakenings. Just want to know what you thought of the movie Lost in Austen. I just saw the trailer for the movie and thought my gosh! What a rip off! Even-though the story is not the same as Confessions, but come on, it's the same plot. I'm not sure if I want to watch the movie or not, but it's disheartening to have another movie ruins the chance of CoaJAA ever being make into a movie. |

Hi Maxi. Great topic. I really enjoyed the mini series Lost in Austen. I watched it all in one sitting. The actress was phenomenal. And I was so into it that up until right now I didn't realize it might be a CoaJAA rip off. But the thing is, it was different enough that it really stood on its own. The plot premise centered around the main actress trying not to ruin the story of P&P with her presence there. With every move she made, something would go wrong, and I wish I could tell you what went wrong but it would be a huge spoiler for you. I would recommend you watch it. My biggest surprise was Mr. Wickham. I sure saw him in a different light after that, that's for sure!!! Watch it and let me know what you think. I think you will love it!! It is full of delightful surprises. PS. I think that this mini series is a good thing for our dear author Laurie because it will introduce more peeps to her book. Plus, the popularity of Lost in Austen might push the movie folks towards the CoaJAA even more now. What do you think? |

Hi there DKDC, thanks for your reply. OK, I will give Lost in Austen a try. I didn't know it was a mini-series for TV, in that case a motion picture version of CoaJAA with a bigger budget might get fans of Lost in Austen to watch the movie. Might not be so bad after all, if Hollywood ever gets around to making it. |

I saw the movie and thought it was really cute! It reminded me a little of "Kate and Leopold." |

I loved Lost in Austen,:) especially right at the end,if I gather correctly with whom Amanda was standing:)I don't wish to spoil it. I love the fresh take Amanda brought to the world and it was interesting in seeing Mrs Bennet's threats to her.Mr Darcy was the best I have seen and the actor was superb.Miss Bingley also was very cunning. The acting was just excellent all around, though I am currently reading a link which talks of low viewing figures:( I wonder if Amanda could be put in to the other Austen novels? It could be fun:) |

I actually thought the mini-series was based on this book when I picked it up in the bargain section of Borders! I have yet to read it but searched to find out for sure. Guess I was wrong! But I loved the mini-series which is what interested me in the book when I read the synopsis and thought they were connected. So I think the mini-series may bring more readers to the book looking for something similar. It did for me! :) |

I as a female African-American minister, saw the movie, which made me read, when I saw it at TARGET Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict, which addicted me to read Rude Awakenings and now for the first time going to read Pride and Prejudice and perhaps the others. I am married to a wonderful husband but, I would marry Darcy in a minute if taken back in time. I love Ms. Laurie Rigler and glad I saw Lost in Austin to get addicted your books. |

Hi, Daisy May, and welcome to the forum. Thanks for sharing your story. I'm delighted that my books gave you a little nudge toward Pride and Prejudice. Please let us know what you think of it! :))
By the way, I think there should be an African-American contemporary adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, and I already have my dream Mr. Darcy picked out: Chiwetel Ejiofor. Though he's British, so maybe we need to call iit an African-Anglo adaptation? |

OMG. Chiwetel Ejiofor would be the most perfect Mr. Darcy ever. Be still my heart. |
