It's been a very long time since I kept you apprised of new features on the research website, The Regency Encyclopedia. It's well past time I got you all caught up!
There are 2 new modules added to the facts database & the interactive maps. These are Georgian Names & the Fashion Module.
Georgian Names
You may search for a name or nickname in the late Georgian Era by typing it in the search box or using our links to find a name in the database. For every name, we provide information about the name’s history, spellings, nicknames, a popularity meter, a list of both Austen and non-Austen literary characters and a portrait gallery of famous people in the late Georgian Era with this Christian name. In addition, for the really famous people, the portrait gallery includes pdfs of contemporaneous articles from the leading publications of the day.
Fashion Module
There are over 1,500 fashion prints catalogued and searchable by year, gender, publication, type of dress and/or basic color. Your search will generate thumbnails that match your criteria. Click on any one of them to bring up the larger picture & if we've found the original text, it will be included there. We've enhanced the text by providing definitions of some of the terms. These will be underlined and text boxes will pop up when you roll your mouse over the underlined word.
